The wild food world runs on the backs of foragers. The same people who hike the miles, brave the weather, and know the forest like an extension of themselves. Yet for decades, they’ve been the last ones to see a fair cut. Big distributors, brokers, and middlemen squeeze margins until the people doing the real work are left with scraps.
We started Gourmet Harvest to change that. Founded by a small group of commercial foragers in Washington’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest, our mission is simple: build a better system for wild food. We buy directly from local pickers, pay fair prices, and make sure that value stays where it belongs – with the people and places that make this work possible.
Our roots are in the woods, not the boardroom. We understand what it takes to walk ten miles in the rain, to dig through duff for that perfect Matsutake or Porcini, to haul buckets of Chanterelles down a muddy road just to be underpaid by someone in a warehouse. That’s why we do things differently. We cut out the middlemen, keep pricing transparent, and move wild food directly from forest to kitchen. We passionately support pickers, small buyers, and chefs who care about traceability and quality.
Every box that leaves our facility represents a real person’s work, not a commodity. When you buy from Gourmet Harvest, you’re supporting independent foragers, sustainable harvest practices, and a fairer wild food economy across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Because wild food should nourish more than just the plate. It should nourish the people who bring it to life.
